Akuapem Poloo Arrested Over Kid`s Birthday Celebration Post

Popular model and actress, Rosemond Alade Brown popularly known as Akuapem Poloo has been arrested by Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officers from Ghana Police over a controversial nude photo she shared during her son’s birthday celebration on her instagram page.

Reports coming in according to Peace FM’s Nana Yaa Konadu confirmed that the model was picked up few minutes ago and has been currently sent to the headquarters of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit at the Ministries in Accra. It will be recalled that Akuapem Poloo on Tuesday June 30, 2020 posted a nude photo of herself and son wearing only underpants on instagram page to celebrate her son 7th birthday. The photo went viral instantly and sparked an outrage on social media leading to a debate as to whether she had done the right thing or not.

After the post went viral, it was reported that Child Rights International petitioned the CID to act over the matter since Akuapem Poloo had violated some laws and also breached some Child Acts. Based on the report by Child Rights International, the Police CID invited Akuapim Poloo for questioning and according the Police, she agreed to report herself on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 but she refused to honour the Police invitation until her arrest today Monday July 6, 2020.

Rosemond Brown took down the post and apologized to the general public over the post. After she celebrated her son’s birthday, she made a self-recorded video with her son in which they both apologized to the public over the issue. However, the authorities would have none of that as she has been taken to DOVVSU’s headquarters in Accra for questioning. The reason for her arrest is still not clear and no official charges have been leveled against her yet. More details soon.
