“I Don’t Have any Antipathy With Sarkodie And Samini For Endorsing President Nana Addo” – Ex President Mahama

Leader and presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said that he has no antipathy for Sarkodie and Samini for endorsing his political opponent president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for another four year term and his attitude towards the two has not changed.

Speaking in an interview on Ghone TV, Mr. John Dramani Mahama disclosed that he is not involving celebrities in his 2020 elections campaign because Ghanaian politics don’t understand such endorsements and also doesn’t want to affect the careers of any celebrity.

“Musicians will make music for you and all that but it doesn’t really amount to an endorsement. In Ghana, when a musician makes music for a political party, he comes against quiet a lot of antipathy from the supporters of the other party and that shouldn’t be the case you know? But unfortunately that is what happens. And so in this particular campaign, I have tried to discourage as much as possible getting celebrities involved in our campaign because it leads to the distraction of their careers” he said.

The former president who is seeking the mandate of Ghanaians to rule again further explained that whoever the two choose to endorse is their decision, but he will personally not deeply involve celebrities in his political campaigns.

“And so if you notice I haven’t gone around with celebrities, musicians and so on and so forth, it`s because our politics does not understand those things. I don’t have any antipathy with anybody who endorses Nana Addo. That’s their decision. I like Sarkodie and Samini. They are young and talented musicians and my attitude towards them doesn’t change. I mean Samini has been somebody that I like. I like his music Linda and all that, I mean we all love those music so if he endorses Nana Addo, he must have his reasons for doing that. It doesn’t change my attitude towards him. But I have said that I won’t get musicians and celebrities deeply involved in my campaign because I don’t want to affect their careers because people will misinterpret it and think that because they support you, I won’t buy their music, because they support you, I won’t watch their movies” he said in the interview.
