Shatta Wale Explains Why He Called Reggie Rockstone A “Poor Man”
African dancehall King Shatta Wale has said in an interview that he did not mean Reggie Rockstone the Grand Papa is poor as people projected.
On Zylofon FM’s Showbiz Agenda with Sammy Flex, he said Ghanaian artistes have painted themselves to the government that they are too okay and that is what is affecting them. So to him, he said Grand Papa is poor because he doesn’t want the leaders of the land to think Ghanaian artistes are too okay to the extent of taking huge amount of money from them in the name of tax.
“I went to UTV and said we are poor and I was asked by the hostess if Reggie is poor and I said he is poor. I am not saying Reggie Rockstone is poor and I want to meet Reggie Rockstone and even explain that thing to him that if I say that, I’m saying it for all us because we have painted a certain picture to this our leaders that we are too okay and that is what is affecting us” he explained.
“GRA (Ghana Revenue Authority) has sent me a huge sum of money to pay as tax. It’s because of the way we are carrying ourselves in this industry that is why we are getting things like this. I didn’t get any letter from GRA when I was hustling and poor and living in Nima but as soon as I became Shatta Wale, GRA has sent me a letter” he lamented.
