Akesse Brempong Reveals Why Nigerian Gospel Songs Are Bigger Than Ghanaian Gospel Songs

Ghanaian Urban Gospel artist Akesse Brempong has opened up on why Nigerian Gospel songs travel wider than Ghanaian Gospel Songs. The God is working hit maker on Sammy Flex TV’s Showbiz Daily revealed that in Nigeria, the big churches have taken it upon themselves to invest in their singers to become big and to export them to the world.

Akesse Brempong who has released a new single with Joe Mettle called Nhyira aka Blessed sited an example using Pastor Chris’s church “Christ Embassy” helping and investing in an artiste like Sinach who is part of his church and happens to be one of the biggest Gospel artiste in Nigeria.

Unfortunately here in Ghana, there is no label for gospel music even to talk about a church dreaming to invest in any Ghanaian Gospel artiste. “To me, this is one of the reasons Nigerian Gospel is bigger than Ghanaian Gospel songs” he noted.

He suggested that since churches like The Church of Pentecost, Presbyterian Church, Roman Catholic, ICGC have invested in the Ghanaian educational system and other businesses, they should also add music business to the church to build and elevate the Ghanaian Gospel music industry.

“Gospel musicians in Ghana are paid less as compared to the secular musicians and again our biggest source of income is from the church” he stated. He boasted by saying he believes contemporary Gospel music will market Ghana to the world than the conventional gospel music.
