Wendy Shay Calls Ghanaian Celebrities Supporting #EndSARS Hypocrites
RuffTown Records baddest girl Wendy Shay has responded to celebrities who are opposing her protest against Gaming Commission’s recent ban on betting companies using celebrities for their advertisement and endorsements as hypocrites.
The singer who in earlier reports said she is heading to the Human Rights Court to sue the Food And Drugs Authority(FDA) and the Gaming Commission for banning celebrities from endorsing alcoholic products and betting companies thinks it is hypocrisy for anyone to support Nigeria’s
EndSARS yet oppose the protest or condemn the FDA/Gaming commission for such bans.
First the FDA barred Ghanaian celebrities from advertising alcoholic products in the country. Just few days ago, the Gaming Commission added salt to wound by banning betting companies from using celebrities for their advertisement and endorsements.
Wendy Shay who isn’t happy about this move has for the past days been ranting and planning to fight these regulatory bodies.
“GH Celebs, can we put our differences aside and fight the system ?? I guess we don’t know how powerful we are … Well, I’m taking the FDA and Gaming commission to the Human Rights Court Celebs are also Ghanaians and deserve better !! Ghana wake Up !!” she said in an earlier tweet.
This particular call was opposed by British-Ghanaian actress Ama K Abebrese who also in a tweet said: “Nigerian youths are fighting to #EndSARS #EndSWAT & end #PoliceBrutality for their Human Rights.
In Ghana, some celebrities are fighting to be paid to promote alcohol and sports betting to youths as a ‘Human Rights’ issue.
Everyone has a right to protest what matters to them”.
But the “Emergency” hitmaker has a response for the actress. She tweeted on Thursday afternoon saying: “#EndSARS is PoliceBrutality.
FDA and Gaming commission’ CareerBrutality’, yes! everyone has the right to protest these ppl are killing the showbiz industry but a GH celeb will support ENdSARS and condemn the FDA/Gaming commission protest. Such an Irony, hypocrites! Ghana wake up!”.
