“We Don’t Necessarily Need Veteran Musicians To Run The Business Of GHAMRO” -Reggy Zippy
The outcry for overhauling at GHAMRO – Ghana Music Rights Organisation is getting intensed daily, particularly from members of Alliance For Change. Many are calling for the head of Rex Omar, Chairman of the organisation.
UK based dancehall and Afropop artiste Reggy Zippy of Reggie ‘n’ Bollie fame has also stand up for
the call for change in the administration of the organisation. He argued that if Ghanaian farmers are not allowed to run the affairs of Agric bank, why must veteran musician be allowed to run the business of Ghamro.
“If Ghanaian farmers are not allowed to run the affairs of Agric bank, why are veteran Ghanaian artists allowed to run the business of Ghamro?. Royalties are the pension funds of creative people, i.e Artists, songwriters, composers, investors etc”. he said in a post on Facebook.
He further explained: “It is serious business, it is our means of economic survival after working hard to create contents millions of people enjoy for years so we need professionals who have been adequately trained for such roles and not just senior musicians who haven’t acquired the right training to run the business affairs of a whole industry. Old artists and celebrities can’t keep begging the public for money for hospital bills and something to eat. WE NEED REAL CHANGE IN GHANA MUSIC BUSINESS NOW!!!✊🏾✊🏾”.
